Nematodes are round worms that live in all kinds of environments including other organisms. Free living (non-parasitic) nematodes dominate all sediment habitats in diversity and sheer number.
Although scientists have studied nematodes for over a century, currently only a fraction of the estimated total diversity is known to science.
In our lab the focus of our research is nematode biodiversity, ecology and their association with other organisms with emphasis on free-living forms.
